ESSEX WATERFRONT CRIME WATCH
When entering or leaving the Essex River, care must be taken when crossing the sandbar in the Ipswich Bay. Due to weather and tide conditions, the water is often rough with breaking waves over the bar. The Essex River is marked by the U.S. Coast Guard to the seaward side of the Conomo Point. From Conomo Point to the upper river areas, the mid-channel is marked by the Town of Essex. Care must be used when navigating in the river due to the narrow channel and shallow waters at low tides (dredged to 4' at MLW). There are limited repair and support services available at the marinas with gasoline available at Perkins Marine. We hope that you enjoy your trip along the Essex River.
